power mod questins for AWP

I have a Beetle 1.8t and am looking doing some mods. The first thing will obviously be a chip. Ihave heard good and bad things about both the APR and the GIAC. Everyone seems to think that the GIAC has a better 91octane program. Is this true or are there really any differences between the two?
Next step will be intake and exhaust. I am thinking about the Autotech downpipe that keeps the stock cat, just opens up both ends, so I can stay emmissions legal in Cali. I would also do a cat back exhaust with the DP. I don't plan on doing a new turbo so should I stick with a 2.5 system?
For the intake, I plan on doing something with a cone filter, haven't decided on brand yet. I also have heard that the turbo inlet pipe is a good mod. Forge claims 12hp out of it. Is there a better brand than Forge?
Lastly what DV do you guys like? I want to go with a DV and not a Blow off.

get a new free flowing cat, down pipe, headers, injectors, exhaust, intake system not just an intake, if ur doing turbo go with higher out put more boost and do some fuel sytem stuff, and that will pump some power into that thing. whats a DV? i been using BOVs forever never a problem
