How to get 250hp

Hello everyone. I am new to this and am looking for a little advice. I have owned a 2000 jetta gl for about 2 yrs now. I also have a highly modified 01 civic, which was always my toy car for stricktly the summer. Which means my jetta was always my "winter beater." I am bored with my civic and am getting rid of it. The problem is everytime I drive my jetta it makes me want to cry because it is so slow. I want to keep the car because it is paid for and I have invested a bit of time in the body of the car (body kit, suspension, shaved door handles, stereo system, ect.) Any suggestion on what rd would be best for getting about 250hp out of the car? Like everyone, I don't want to spend a ton. But I have to do something because I can take a shi*t fasters than I can go 0-60. Thanks for the time...
