S50 Torque Specs!

I have a HS kid(friend of son) took his S50 engine out of his 95 M3 and disassembled it. He is being told on BimmerForums that the crankshaft main bearing torque specs are 14.2 ft. lb.  I looked through his Bently manual and there is NO data for the bottom end(what a rip!). I have never assembled a BMW engine before. It isn't any different than  a VW, Triumph, or even a Chevy- so I don't buy into 14 ft lbs. Ran the std google searches and turned up nothing except a nonatributed pdf file with about 6 different specs based on bolts(for all I know that is for a motorcycle). But those numbers were torque to yield!

Kid wants to get moving and I am trying to slow him down rather than have his crank fall out when he rev's it for the first time.

Appreciate any help and if you don't mind I would like a source and your engine building /auto Tech credentials.

Me- ASE Cert Auto Tech since 1978. Built a dozen Triumph 6 cyl, My first engine build was a Chevy straight six. Built about 30 VW water cooled 8V and 16V engines

Thanks
Jack
