Smart Roadster

Like many Americans, we fell in love with the Smart cars on a recent tour in Europe. Then upon surfing the marque on the web, we found the Smart Roadster and our passion only increased. Our question(s) are these:
1. Are there any Smart Roadsters available for sale (new or used)?
2. Is there a model with automatic transmission?
3. Could one purchase in Europe and have it shipped to the U.S., modified of course to meet U.S./california smog emissions standards?
Any help or suggestions are welcome. Just to let you know that I am not unfamiliar with European cars, I have owned a Consul Corsair (brought in from Canada), a Berkeley roadster (with the 2 cylinder Excelsior motorcycle engine, and now have a beat up, ugly, goes-like-a-bat-out-of-hell Maserati Bi-turbo. So yes, a little eccentric in my tastes but definite about what I would like. The little Smart Roadster (not the big Brabus bi-turbo) is what I would love to bring to my home here in California.
