Starting a New Tuning Project

I've decided to boost the horsepower of my '03 BoxsterS with Imagine Auto's supercharger kit. Please forgive the tired metaphor, but a tuning project is a journey. The journey can begin in many ways and can offer up many challenges. My first challenge is to overcome the enormously high Domestic Interference Factor (DIF) of such a project. Many single readers will not be familiar with the DIF concept. Those of you who are married probably know what I'm talking about. I have to gain my wife's approval, or at least grudging acceptance, before I can begin.

My strategy thus far has been to soften her up with small to medium upgrades. I put in a sport exhaust. Then a few months later a cold air intake. But now, I must craft an argument of such irrefutable and undeniable logic that my wife will have to accept it. She will laugh; she will cry; this project will become a part of her life. OK, maybe not. I'll probably stick with the enjoy-life-while-you're-still-young-enough-to-know-what's-going-on argument.

To be continued...

Oh well, no supercharger right now. The DIF was just too high. I can't believe new bedroom furniture beat out performance parts.

The guys from Imagine Auto are great and I'm hanging on to their estimate for the future. For now, I'm going to add a B&M short shifter and EVO billet shift linkage, and braided stainless brake lines. In the not too distant future I'm going for Bilstein PSS9 coil-overs.

yeehaw! the B&M short shifter rocks. it's a night and day difference from stock. no more sloppy 3rd gear upshifts.

took the car out to the hills. had fun playing with a merc C32 AMG. the C32 was too heavy to keep up with me in the corners.  but he smoked me in the straights.
