Anything about classics?

As I can see, there's no category about classic oldtimer cars. And it is quite a gap, because Europe has produced maybe the most beautiful cars ever made.
Maybe you'll find this as something to think about.

I agree, Europe has made some spectacular cars. While we were researching our doc on the 1908 NY to Paris race, www.thegreatestautorace.com , we viewed an amazing number of great cars. During our trip to Munich to do interviews at the Deutches Museum, we were shown a fantastic collection together with a number of Protos cars in a private collection. The owners graciously allowed us to record their sounds for the film ... and provided us with period blueprints for our fabricating crew in Alberta. In the end we created the Thomas Flyer, the German Protos, and a partial Italian Zust, which now reside at the Reynolds Museum in Alberta. I just wish we could have added more European classics for the big scenes in "Berlin" and "Paris" (Edmonton's Lt. Govenor's mansion stood in for these sites)but few exist on the Canadian Prairies. Cheers. Michael.

Thanks. The cars were continually changed during the filming process to appear as they did in the 1000s of original 1908 photos we had of the race. We found almost 1000 in an attic in Buffalo and another 100 or so in a shoebox in Las Vegas. The show is currently airing on Superchannel in Canada and is available on DVD through our website www.thegreatestautorace.com . Our picture cars and all of the research now live at the Reynolds Museum in Alberta. The nice thing about a Canadian museum is that they are not allowed to sell stuff off ... which is what happened when the Harrah original collection moved to the RAM. A ton of Flyer information got spread all over the country.
