Audi A4 GT (MTM) with high mileage

Hi All,
I'm in New Zealand looking at buying an 1996 Audi A4 GT (286hp MTM factory upgrade) with approx 200,000km (~124,000mls). It appears to have a very complete service history and the seller assures all is well. It's not expensive but it's highly tuned and it's gone a long way.
Is the A4 THAT durable? Engines? Driveline? Diffs? etc.. What should I look out for? How expensive are parts for these (the specialised parts) Am I looking at a wallet-singularity on wheels or is it going to be the best Q car I've never had?
A long time ago I use to service and drive rally cars, so I'm not afraid of getting amongst it...
